What Rom is the Fastest?

All this talk got me to thinking about trying a different ROM/kernel to see if I can tell a difference.

So I flashed Liquid's 1.25 ROM and franco's nightly 1.35 kernel. I'm coming from a AOKP B32/faux 15u combo, so we'll see which one feels smoother/faster.

Don't intend to offend anyone, but I've run CNA, Axiom PZ, AOKP and others, with many, many different kernels, and they are all basically the same. Some have a few different settings/toggles, but I really don't think any one is better than the other...they are all great.

So what are the results?

OK, after running Liquid 1.25/franco r135/r138 for a couple of days, I can definitely see a difference.

What I noticed was, that this combo for me was a lot smoother and snappier than my previous set-up(AOKP B32/faux123 15u).

Now, I never ran any benchmarks to establish how much difference there was, but if I can tell with my untrained eye a difference in speed, than I can now say I've found- for now at least, my new favorite ROM/kernel combo.

P.S. I've also gained some battery life too. Icing on the proverbial cake.

It might just be Franco Kernel, I would recommend nightly 138, and if you buy his app on the Play Store you can update your kernel from right there.

I just flashed AOKP B32/Franco R140 last night. It appears that the Liquid 1.25/Franco combination was smoother. I'm going to run with AOKP for a couple of days to see if my missing phone call problem continues and then I will probably flash back to liquid.

BAMF is by far the best rom.

Bamf is probably the only rom that stayed on my phone for less than an hour. Not bad, but the terrible boot animation, boot music, and limited features really cramped my style.

You should also add the V6 supercharger mod. (If you haven't done so.) Make sure you run it with the Nova Launcher. (since it works well with it, not Apex) :D

Yeah, I've seen that. I'm tempted to try it, I just don't see a need right now.

I'm still enjoying the smoothness/snappiness that Liquid/Franco are presenting me with right now.

As for Apex, I deleted it, Nova's the only launcher for me.

I have the v6, underclocked it to 1036 while running on franco's 140, AND still runs FAST. Just the way I like it to be while saving battery life. :D

Boot animation sound can be turned off, stock boot animation can be put on and it doesn't have useless features.

I am still using AOKP B31 with Franco kernel. Still fast, but I might try liquid 2.0 when it comes.

I used it on my D1, and had my minfree set at 33mb. I just am not sure of its necessity on a device with 1gb of RAM. I can change my minfree to a certain extent in ROM control anyway.

Did you notice a significant difference in performance, in addition to battery savings? That is indeed, intriguing.

That may be a while, Liquid just released v1.3 yesterday.

Take it from someone that jumped from AOKP32 to Liquid, trust me you won't look back.

Everything's done, and all I have to say is wow! Everything is snappier and smoother. Thanks for the tip!
