So far I've only been able to find the phone's specs, and not how I can actually expand the internal storage. I have a 512 GB SanDisk micro SD, but it shows the error that it's too slow to be used as internal storage.

What specific SD card should I be looking for?

Welcome to Android Central forums. I struggled with this same issue back when I had an HTC device. Even with the fast card I could find, in a size that I could afford, I never got it to work for more than a week. I was buying Class 10 cards, which I believe is the speed of the card from everything I could find to reference this, but now I'm also seeing XC-I and XC-II in the mix.

I would argue against it as you'll likely spend a bundle on getting a fast card only to end up using it as normal external memory. But that is just me.

Perhaps this information will help you better understand all of your options and you'll do better than I was able to.

Best wishes.

It's generally not recommended to use an SD card as adoptable/internal storage. It encrypts the card so that you can not use it on anything else, and makes them very prone to corruption due to excessive write cycles. SD cards are designed to be used in a write once, read many scenario.

Google no longer officially supports adoptable storage, and implementation was always hit and miss with phone manufacturers. You could have problems regardless of which card you used.

SD cards are best suited as external storage for independent files. I.e. documents and media. It's not even recommended to move apps to them, even though some phones would allow the option (also no longer officially supported by Google).
