Hi

I'm looking to get a smartwatch. I want one capable of replying to text messages. Needs to be wifi capable so that when I leave my phone in my locker I can still get notifications and reply etc. Facebook messenger and what's app Also like the idea of cool watch faces.

Not fussed on heart rate monitor etc. Texts via messenger etc is my priority.

I'm a female so nothing to masculine looking.

Thanks

Given your requirements, it sounds like Android Wear is right for you.... With one caveat, in order to get some of the features you desire out of Android Wear, the watch must be connected to an Android phone running Android 4.3 or higher.

If this is not a problem, I'd suggest a Moto 360, 2nd gen which comes in two sizes... The smaller ones may fit the bill for a more "feminine" looking watch. However, this is largely dependant on your particular likes/dislikes when it comes to design, fashion, and style. Take a look at https://www.android.com/wear/ and check out the styles and prices to better choose which one you like... The watches on that site ALL run Android Wear, some have heart rate monitors, some don't... But you don't seem to concerned with that feature, so no worries there.

One more thing, if you want to try some on first hand and have a best buy retail store nearby they usually have quite a few smartwatches on display to play with.

Seeing as you only want a simple Smartwatch with WiFi I would recommend the Sony Smartwatch 3 (steel preferably). I have only had it for two days but it has respectable battery life and a TFT display which works in direct sunlight on low brightness settings.

Thanks. As nice as the moto is, spending £200 on it concerns me as it's my first one.

I can get the Sony sw3 for £100.

What's the main differences between them?

As I said texting back is my main priority and it needs to work when my phone isn't on me.

Also I'm using a Samsung s6

I think the moto 2nd gen is a rip off for anybody to be honest and especially if you are only looking to try out Android wear and this is going to be your first watch. If I was you I would definitely look at the zenwatch 2 (in the smaller size to be more feminine). It is a great watch and an even better value for the money. Overall a perfect watch to get into Android wear with. It is a square shaped watch just to let you know. I have one in the larger size and think it is the best Android wear watch for the money. It also has a speaker so when Android wear is updated to have speaker support you won't be left behind whereas the moto 2nd gen doesn't have a speaker.

Thanks all.

I have an opportunity to get the Sony smartwatch 3 for £59. The zenwatch 2 for £129

What's the main differences between them?

The reasons to buy one over the other?

Style. Between those two, I'd go for the Sony. Better specs, and you'll save money. If you want something that looks nicer on the outside, however, the Zen is the more stylish choice. Unfortunately, for me, the Zen's style isn't good enough to overcome the Sony's specs.

Thanks all

As much as I liked the look of the Zenwatch 2, the price of the Sony SW3 was too good to miss. Plus with it being my 1st smartwatch I didn't want to risk spending so much incase it wasnt for me.

Patiently awaiting the arrival of my SW3 now lol

-The Sony SW3 has built-in GPS, the ZenWatch 2 does not. This is mainly used for exercising / jogging without bringing your phone along. Your route, distance, speed, etc will all be recorded by the watch and synced back to your phone once you return within range to it.
-Neither have heart rate monitors.
-The Sony uses proprietary wrist straps that aren't the easiest to find, are kinda expensive and limited in color/design. So, if you like to switch out your wrist straps to change things up, the Sony is at a severe disadvantage there. -The screen on the SW3 handles direct sunlight far better than the ZenWatch 2's and doesn't become hard to read outdoors (in direct sunlight).
-Style is a matter of personal preference, however most seem to agree that the ZenWatch 2 is the more appealing looking smartwatch out of these two.

Also, maybe obvious, but just to make sure you know what your getting... In order for the WiFi function to work, giving you notifications even when not in range of your phone, the watch has to be connected to WiFi. In other words, you have to be in an area that offers WiFi and be connected to it for this feature to work. Also, in my experience, the notifications can sometimes be a bit delayed over WiFi.

My apologies for not taking price into greater consideration on my first post 😢 .

You will enjoy the Smartwatch 3. However, if you find the clasp to come off too easily you can fix it but pulling the band apart (see photo) and using pliers or your teeth or something move the little metal bit on the clasp towards the end of the band. I did that and the clasp gives a more sturdy hold.
