What syncing app to use

So I want to use my tablet more around the house without having my phone in arms reach. If there was a way to get and respond to text while on my tablet without having to open a separate app on my phone and syncing them up? Like apple for instance. As long as I'm on the same WiFi why can't I get these notifications? I understand answering the phone but at least caller ID so I know if I need to get up. I just might be missing it. But if I owned two Samsung products (tablet/smartphone) they should just work together.

I have used Samsung side sync. It worked with my S5 active and note 12. You can do everything accept make calls. Have not used it in awhile, no need of it. If I remember correctly it used my cell phone battery up pretty quickly but it has been awhile since I used it.
