I can't figure out why my phone won't root. I have a Samsung SGH-I727 Skyrocket running 2.3.6, Gingerbread.ucla3. I have followed all of the steps provided here: http://forums.androidcentral.com/sk...27-want-root-under-10-minutes-what-i-did.html

and this is what I get:

What am I missing here? I've followed all the steps repeatedly, tried different USB ports, etc.

I'm running Windows 7, fwiw.

Someone can correct me if I'm wrong, but I think that method doesn't work if you're on 2.3.6. Can anyone confirm?

Maybe try flashing Superuser through CWM?

how does one do that?

Apparently there's more than one way to skin a cat

Are you running the program as administrator? Right click the file and try running as administrator

Actually rooting on 2.3.6 (as well as on ICS) is very easy. Use Odin to flash CWM and from CWM install superuser.zip :) follow the instructions in the link. (Can't post clickable link from my phone for some reason sorry)
