I was just looking at the Verizon website at what deals they have and they have the S3 Mini. I saw the specs. Basically, it has Galaxy Nexus specs, and is on 4.2.2 out of the box. Why would a phone that isn't flagship have a higher version of Android than the upgraded flagship model of the same exact thing? Verizon needs to get it's act together. See attached screenshot, or just go onto the S3 Mini on Verizon's website.

The version of Android from 4.1.x - 4.3.x isn't likely a very important factor for the majority of the folks considering this phone. ...or an S3. When you move into the contemporary models the phone enthusiasts tend to place some value on version numbers.

Generally speaking, a phone will have the version of Android that's current when it's sold. So if Android 4.2.2 was the current version when the S3 mini came out, that's the version it would have on it. Doesn't matter that the S3 has an earlier version, just what's current.
