what to do if android drops in toilet

Went to EE shop. Told them what happened. They said it wouldn't be replaced under warranty. Basically, I am in possession of a dead mobile. Got a new phone from them (contract instead of payg.)

I'm sorry about that! What kind of phone did you get?

I got a Huawei P Smart. Haven't fully played around with it yet (in the process of doing so now) but it seems to do exactly what my now deceased phone did, and the monthly contract is the same as the payments I would have made with PAYG anyway.

I DON'T BELIIIIEVE IT! You all know the story about me dropping my phone down the toilet and going out and getting a new phone on contract - Well, I just tried my old mobile (that thought it was a submarine!) and the blooming thing started up with no problems (from what I can see!) Hmm! Do you think I would be able to return my contract phone? 🙄

The problem is that phones that get wet may fail perhaps months afterwards, because of ongoing damage caused by residues left behind after drying. Several soaks and swishings now in a succession of alcohol baths may, or may not, help....or on the other hand, you may be have got away with it as things are. It's all uncertain.

I would keep your contract phone and save your submerged phone as a backup in case. As Belodion said, it may work for a while and then stop functioning later as a latent result of water submersion.

That's what I am going to do. My 'phone-that-thought-it-was-a-fish' only had 16GB storage space (and was practically full up) in total, and the contract phone has 32GB, so I'm more than happy to keep the contract phone.

You are lucky!
