What to do if your phone is stolen?

Probably not what you want to hear, but at this point it's probably going to be more efficient to move on TXGTOU.

You've made very solid efforts to locate the phone, any more investment in resources is less likely to pay off.

Good luck, and sorry.

Yeah, I've got my old Rezound that I'm going to give my mother at this point. I figure it having a cracked screen on it will be part of the 'lesson learned' on her part.

The other part that is still up in the air for me is do I go through all the trouble of setting up the phone as close to the way her S3 was set up, downloading the multitude of apps for her and all other configurations? I know it seems kind of harsh of me but considering I paid for her S3 ($300) and all the time I've spent working on that damn thing, not to mention the fact that she's lost it and dropped it on numerous occasions, I'm ready to wash my hands of the added responsibility of keeping track of all her devices and maintaining all her devices. The most frustrating part is having to answer the same question constantly because she doesn't make an effort at getting to know her device. But I digress, and I think it's time to cut the strings.

All good points TXGTOU. And she counters with 'but she's your mom.' And your trumped. (I'm in a similar boat, playing tech support for some family members too. I'm thinking of buying a couple dumbphones. :) )

You may be able to find a used phone on Craigslist pretty cheap. Or maybe even ebay. You could get her an S2 really cheap - it's not that much different than the S3 that your mom will really notice.

Drops - get a really good case (Otterbox, Ballistic, Griffin, etc...)

As long as the apps were downloaded from the Play store, getting them back will be no big deal. I'd probably only do what she actually asks for. That will likely cut out 80%-90% of what was on it.

With repeat questions, I play (kinda) dumb... "I don't know mom, show me what you're doing. Then when she goes wrong I say, maybe we try this, and have her actually do it. This way, they lead me to the answer and often (but not always) remember how to do it in the future."

Good luck, I know how frustrating it can be.
