What will MR1 buy me?

I am currently rooted pre MR1 and no OTA.

If I apply the new auto root MR1, what will that do?

or so I just flash w/ a new rom?

If I understand correctly, the new autoroot MR1 is just an updated procedure for those who have already installed the OTA update on their phones...I don't think it would *hurt* the phone if you ran though the procedure again, but it seems like a useless step. You would end up with the latest stock software version, other than that there's no real reason to do it.

I'd recommend just installing an updated ROM (i.e. DasBAMF 1.6.3) and flash the new radio if you want to get the "benefits" of the OTA update on your current device.

Part of the OTA update "fixes" was a new radio. Whether or not you want to upgrade that component is up to you.

EDIT: The radio install is separate from that of a ROM. If you want to install a new OS ROM and Radio, you can do it in either order you choose. Flashing a new radio does not, in most cases*, wipe the device. The only thing to really be aware of is that Froyo radios will only work with Froyo (2.2) ROMs, and same goes for Gingerbread (2.3).

*assuming you're flashing just the radio and have done it correctly.

See... Im telling you, People (and I use to be the same and still am learning) have no Idea about Radios... You really should Start an Official Radio thread for noobs....
