What would cause apps to be deleted from my Motorola Droid Maxx 2?

I have been experiencing problems where my phone will be fine for a time, then randomly all apps that were not pre-installed are deleted from my phone. It started in March when I was playing a game early Saturday morning, I put the phone in standby and took a nap. When I woke, the phone was completely turned off and all of my games apps were gone. It happens randomly and now I can see apps disappear while on the phone with Verizon tech support. Is this a problem with the Maxx2?
