What would happen if I tried to root my HTC Thunderbolt with unrevoked for desire?

You probably wouldn't 'brick' it. However, you would most likely end up with it in an inoperative state. And, since you don't have a nandroid backup you would be fubar'd as there is no SBF released yet.

Patience is a virtue. Full root should be available in the next day or so. Longest would be early next week.
