Android Central Question

Gah! this is on my Sprint Galaxy s9+

SOMETHING is giving a little "chirp". It's unlike any other sound on the phone - not any sort of notification. It started several months ago. It would do it a few times and then quit. It would return several hours later.

Think a little halfhearted "chirp/blip" like a smoke detector dying

I tried everything - looking through notifications - no notifications - no record of it ever having happened. I uninstalled the latest few apps - didn't help. I searched the internet - a few pointers to apps I didn't have.

Then it stopped. Probably after 3 days.

Now it's back with a vengeance. It goes several times a day, sometimes 1 second between chirps, sometimes a few seconds. It has "episodes". It seems to do it a lot around noontime. It's doing it right now. (9:17 PM EDT). The length between them is random - sometimes one second - sometimes 10. I think I measured it once at 50 seconds between. Ultimately it will stop for a while.

It sets off the vibrator, so turning the volume all the way off doesn't do any good - plus I wind up missing important phone calls. It's literally costing me money at this point!

I googled the play store for things like "event viewers" so I could see what the #$%%$# my phone is doing, but to no avail. I'm at the end of my rope! I'd wipe it, but without knowing what it is, I may very well just recreate it!

Please help!

If you can stand wiping the phone (meaning that everything is backed up), reflash the firmware. That can't "recreate" it unless it's a hardware problem. (It's almost impossible to diagnose without hearing it while the hone is in my hand, to determine where it;s coming from.) See [Samsung] How to flash Stock ROM via ODIN.
