What's everyone's favorite ROM for DL09?

I know there are many out there and don't know which one to use, Superclean, stupidfast, voodoo, etc. Anyone want to tell me which one is their favorite and why?

Not sure how to say this but some of what you have listed are not roms.

For DL09 roms, I think we have supuh clean .4 and Blackhole. I have seen posts of people using the DL09 modem with DJ05 roms but not sure if this is good or not.

Stupidfast and voodoo are kernels. There has been alot of talk of JT's 12/30 non-voodoo rom here on this forum and that is what I have been running. Worked well with DL09 and DJ05.

I might move to voodoo again at some point but I would learn more before you start looking there. With voodoo, you have to be comfortable with CWM recovery as you will have 2 of them ;)

ellisz is right, make sure you know what the difference between kernel and rom are.

right now I'm using SupahClean .4 ROM and adrynelyn's 12/30 DL09/DJ05 kernel for DL09. I tried the stock kernel, but that didn't seem to play well with the GPS for some reason.

Keep an eye out for Adrynalyne's ROM's if you like a stock type ROM without all the bloat. All the others caused me grief in one way or the other. In fact his pre OTA DL09 ROM was the best ROM I ever used and had zero issues.

I've always preferred to stick with a stock ROM that I debloat myself. I've had too much trouble with deodexed ROMs and certain apps, along with not caring so much for the AOSP versions of the few stock apps I use. As far as kernels go, I've been changing around a bit. Had StupidFast 1.54 when I first flashed DL09, then tried JTs 12/30, which worked fine. I've found a little more performance and battery life so far with the latest StupidFast (12/20) though. It's still a test kernel but has been running perfect for me. Unless I start running into stability issues I plan to keep that one until there's something better from geeknik.

I used stupidfast 1.54 with DJ05, and found that it was really quick! you've had no problems with the 12/20 one and DL09 so far?

also from what geeknik wrote on his download page, he's not going to be doing any more kernels for the fascinate... so I think the 12/20 one is his last :(

Boo that's disappointing. But no I have not had any issues to speak of with 12/20. I never used to use test kernels in the past, but I gave JT's 12/30 a shot when I got DL09. That went fine, so I figured why not give geeknik's testers a shot since I'm a little more partial to his kernels. It's been a little bit faster and it's his lowest voltage option, which I do see reflected in battery life. If you're still itching for a little more speed, 12/19 is slightly overclocked.

I have a problem...I did the SupahClean .4 ROM and adrynelyn's 12/30 DL09/DJ05 kernel for DL09 last night and my battery life is horrible...I can actually sit here and watch the level drop. This was my first time flashing a rom and kernal so maybe I did it wrong....should I do a wipe via clockwork and try reinstalling or will the battery life settle down?

that's interesting, I am using the same combination and I actually have much better battery life than when I had a stupidfast kernel (altho the stupidfast was much faster on boot up at least) on DJ05. when you flashed, did you wipe data and cache and dalvik cache?

Yeah I fought with Blackhole 3.0 for hours last night and never could get it to install right. Haven't tried Adrynalyne's yet but I plan to over the weekend.

The kernel is going to be mostly responsible for battery life and performance. Try reflashing your current one, or install a different one to compare.

DL09 Super Clean .4
with Stupid Fast DJ05 1.54 kernel
LauncherPro
added Swype back in
using only 1 widget on home screen and 1 on lock screen

Running super smooth and I'm tottally happy with it over DJ05 so far.
GPS seems to lock even faster then DJ05 did..

battery life: unplugged at 7am and plugged back in at 11:30pm with medium to heavy use thru out the day. 24% of the battery was unused for the day. (So I used 76% in 16 and a half hours)

issues:
• music popping (only when i'm IN PowerPro's app-NO popping if i'm controling PowerPro thru widgets)
• mounts as CD-rom drive unless I do the tethered reboot trick)

Thats what I would do. When you boot into recovery there is a data/cache wipe there. THEN run update.zip to go into CWM and wipe data/cache there. Dalvik cache too wouldn't hurt.

Alot of people don't wipe in the stock recovery and thats a very important part of wiping.

1-data/cache wipe
2-update.zip
3-cwm wipe
4-flash DL09modem.tar (or don't I need to flash this again?)
5-flash DL09_supah_clean_04.zip
6-flash 1230_NON_voodoo.zip

just wanna make sure i do this right this time...thanks

Step 1 is pretty redundant since you're also doing a CWM wipe, which clears even more than the stock recovery one. It won't hurt, but it's not needed. Other than that, you have the right order of things.

ok thanks....off to do all that now....theres also no reason to restore the backup i made with clockwork first right?
