What's new with the Galaxy S8 camera?

From all the rumors and such that are out there, I've not heard a lot about new features in regards to camera. The only thing I've seen really put out there is that it will have 1000 fps video capability. Is there any other stuff new with the camera?

1000fps to be watched by eyes that can't see any faster than 15fps? That's like a Porsche going through 10 foot deep mud - it still can't go much faster than 5mph.

The specs I see are 2160p@60fps, 1080p@120fps. And 60fps is fast enough for human eyes.

Yeah, seems kinda crazy to me too but that's what's being called out as a highlight feature.

It doesn't play back in 1000 fps. It just records in 1000 fps for super slow motion playback.
Until the S8 is officially launched, we really don't know what improvements the camera will bring.
Considering they used identical camera sensors in the S7 and Note7 (supplementing with some ISOCELL modules as well), I highly doubt they stand pat, especially with all of the dual lens setups out there.

Now that i think about it, we haven't actually had many rumours about the camera! Samsung have been making their new screen the highlight of the device and kinda making the camera not so import an this time around (which is fine) I'm sure it will have minor tweaks and improvement.

I did hear something about 1,000 fps but i think its actually going to be 960 fps. Just like on the Sony Xperia XZ Premium . Not sure when i would need a slow mo, that slo mo but i guess its a 'nice to have'

I heard a while back that they were going with Samsung sensors for the S8. That was a rumor from like a couple months ago, though.
Sony has been touting 960fps max. If the S8 is 1000 fps, it just may be a Samsung sensor this time.
They can stick with 12 megapixels. I just want those pixels to be HUGE. Have them at least to match the Pixel's size (1.55).
