Smart Keyboard Pro for me. I like the Custom AutoText feature. Made me feel right at home coming from my previous BlackBerry.
I also like the different skins I can choose.

I have tried many different keyboards and i keep coming back to SwiftKey. I used swype for a couple of months but i am just faster on SwiftKey.

I agree. SwiftKey is the best keyboard app.

Ok.. I have to go back on my previous post. I've been a big fan of the Sense keyboard but Swiftkey is really starting to grow on me. I keep switching back and forth trying to decide which one I like better.

as far as physical keyboards go, the best one I ever used was my old sidekick, but I gotta say, my shift's keyboard is just as nice, all it's missing is the swivel action of the screen and it would have my same amount of love.

as far as soft keyboards go, I would like to say Swype, but it stops working and I have to uninstall/reinstall it all the time to make it work, so I've just been sticking with either better keyboard with an iphone theme or with gingerbread. So proud of Google for the new keyboard, it's very intuitive and I think I can type as fast on it as I'm typing this on my laptop.

why is this in the evo shift section? if you have a shift didnt you buy it because of the hardware keyboard?

Not necessarily, there are a lot of reason why I chose this phone... It's not a Samsung, it actually fits in my pocket, its FAST....I could go on. I do like having the option of the physical keyboard but mainly use the on screen for quick text and emails.

Been running the gamut with most of the "popular" market keyboards, but just not sold on any of them - yet. Still cannot believe that you have to manually toggle back to lower case after using a CAP for anything but the first letter of the first word of a sentence. That should be a common, standard feature in any smartphone keyboard. Maybe I haven't found a setting within one of these that has that 'feature'?

Anyone thoroughly tried out ThickButtons (say, for a couple weeks exclusively?)
I have yet to try a keyboard that didn't do this. That's a pretty standard feature.

im pretty sure thats standard, just press the caps lock once and the next letter will be lowercase. if you press the caps lock twice it stays caps lock till you turn it off.

I have the EVO 4G. Hope you don't mind my tossing in 2 cents worth of opinion. I use the "Keyboard from Android 2.3+" by Steve Lin. I started with the free one he has on the market then upgraded to the plus. It's nice to be able to adjust the keypad. Very good auto correction. Fastest keyboard for me, at least.
