What's the best way to text from my desktop?

I would love for my screen to be broadcasted to my PC (XP) via 3g, but I don't see that happening anywhere. So I can plug in my phone, but what is the best way to text from there? Are there any desktop apps that can display my texts in IM format? or just a screencast onto my screen? Thanks!

Use Android Screencast. If you're rooted it allows for complete control of your device.
