whats the best rom for captivate that is stable/reliable and fast?

there's alot of roms that meet those criteria. you should read through the xda threads on each individual rom.

It is a loaded question .

For 2.2 ROMs, the ones that I feel safe recommending are-

Firefly 3.0
Serendipity
Cognition

There are several more, those just come to mind.

Gingerbread stuff is still in rapid initial development, but has some real bonuses to it-

Continuum
GR
Perception

And last but not least, Cyanogenmod 7 is getting better and better on our devices. I see another update today that deals with the recording quality- one of the last remaining "real" issues with it.

We really have a ton of great choices. We are very lucky to have such an active dev crew around our device. Serendipity indeed.

im with pittsm on this one... to me its all really about personal preference and what u want out of it... xda is where its at!!! but loraque does have some good suggestions... imo u just need to try a few

and if your looking for absolute stability, then for now, stick with a 2.2 rom.
