Whats your first impression of your new Moto X!?

First impressions? I'm selling my 3 months old Moto X... :) It's not a big as I thought from just looking at the dimensions.

2013 in walnut, 2014 in teak.

Looks like the walnut held up nicely. I can't see any wear or tear.

A little friendly comparison...

Comparing the 2014 to the 2013 X.

1. I like the metal trim, it is thinner than before and just feels nicer. Although larger the 2014 just feels thinner because it is thinner.

2. The power button and the two horizontal trim elements on the front are textured with vertical cuts. I suppose you can now distinguish between the power and volume button although it was never an issue before. It feels nice though. :)

3. Sim loads on top and the sim carrier holds onto the sim more securely than before, also the sim is loaded with the contacts face up.

4. I prefer the new front facing speaker. Music sounds fuller with a bit more bass. The old Moto almost sounds shrill in comparison. Audio effects setting to OFF on both.

5. I haven't played with the touchless controls yet.

I consider myself an iPhone user having used one for the past 4 years. I started using the 2013 X about 3 months ago. Granted there's some things I miss from iOS I can easily live with Android especially with the Moto apps. Hands down now that i've used the iPhone 6 and Moto X 2014, it's the X all the way. Who wants a lightly used 2013 Moto X. :D

Happy for all.

Please post battery impressions over the course of the next few days. And how 'bout that camera (particularly in low light)?

Keep em coming - how's camera and battery.

Stuck on big red. White or black bezel??

I got my hands on one tonight, actually I'm typing this post from one. Bamboo back, white front. Coming from a Note 2, then a LG G3, this is a dream to hold. What a great shape. The fit and finish is prime. Motos software enhancements are great and the proximity triggers are nice touch. Basically the whole package exudes smart design. I want this....thinking the G3 is going to eBay.

Verizon gets it Friday. You won't have long to wait. Can't comment on the battery, been using pretty heavily and it didn't have a full charge when I got it. Only took one pic, low light with the flash. It was as good as one could expect, thought admittedly not much of a test.

I'm loving mine so far. This thing is ridiculously fast and smooth without a hint of lag that I've seen. I am definitely happy that I returned the Nexus 5 for this as I really like the additional software tweaks Motorola has made. I haven't used the camera so far, but unless it's absolutely horrible there is no way I would return this phone as I don't take a ton of pics. Tomorrow will be the first real test of battery life as I'm still setting this up the way I want it.

So far, I love the form factor. Moto Assist is even better. I'm not sure about the LTE bands though, I'm already noticing it's slower than my Note 3 was on download speeds. It almost seems like it times out for 10 seconds or so.20140924_191222.jpg20140924_191141.jpg

I'm really excited about this thread. Hopefully I can get one before Christmas. Keep the pictures coming guys! And as far as battery life, ( this is coming for the 2013 model) maybe I never heavily used my phone but I could go at least two days before my phone reached below 20 percent to have to charge.

Hopefully the 2014 is a small improvement in battery life

How does the leather seems look? Like they would peal up? Are they raised or tuked under another edge?

One thing to consider, I've read a bunch of reviews, and few said the battery life improved over several days. So if it doesn't seem great at first, give it more time.

Love the comparison shots with other phones. It helps put the size in perspective, especially since many people say it feels better in the hand than its size would otherwise suggest. Keep the impressions coming, this is a fun thread.

Still trying to get this answered: are the plastic backs soft-touch or hard plastic? On the 2013 model this varied based on color.

Love at first sight! The original Moto X was phenomenal, but I personally prefer the 5" form factor.

The size, better performance, better camera, better looks with the metal band and the Moto touchless improvements are all terrific.

Moto is making it pretty difficult to decide between this and the Note 4. Keep the updates coming guys!

*I'd probably already have one ordered, but the Pure Edition 32gb Black front are still sold out.

If anyone's wondering, I'm a big fan of the Hula Bumper Case. I threw one in my MotoMaker cart when I bought my phone, and I'm very impressed. I won't use it all the time, but it provides just the right amount of grip and protection for those times when you're going to be in situations where you might be more prone to dropping your phone. While it does completely cover up the metal trim, it looks nice and doesn't detract from the overall look of the phone OR signal quality.
