whatsapp notification issue

These notification vibrations are really annoying. I turn ON the notifications but under the notifications, I turn them to SILENT. They used to work fine where I get only the badges on unread messages. Now whenver I turn OFF the vibrate, etc, something in the phoen turns it back on by itself, so it vibrates EVERYTIME I get a message.

my settings are
whatsapp/notifications
-notification tone = silent

-vibraete = OFF

Under my samsung phone settings itself, under notificaitons
-Show notificaiotns - ON
-group notifications = OFF (although some spirit turns it back on by itself)
-message notifcations = OFF (turns on by itself)

Anyone else have this issue?

-use high priorit notifiaciotns = oFF

This is both for single messages and group messages.
