But this is how the game plays out. I was literally one of the first to post that my preorder was submitted and here I am with the cancel option still showing on ATT website and preorder still pending

Yeah, this is how it goes every year. I ordered via Samsung.com around 2pm, and I'm in the same boat as you. Oddly enough, I'm not even bummed because everyone else's excitement is contagious. We'll join yhe ranks pretty soon.
