Does it save ALL my settings and profiles...i.e. my background, home screens, app settings, contacts, basically everything on my phone and the way it looks right now... etc

I think it only saves the apps and their data. To back up everything on your phone the way it is now, you'd have to do a nandroid backup.

titanium saves the app data like if you have a twitter client. it saves your profile info, login, and timeline details

Where does the backup file live and how do I know it's been successful? It says "backup finished" but it takes about 0.0001 seconds and doesn't really give a list of dated backup images to know what you've got...

It lives on the SD card in a folder called Titanium. But it sounds like you may not be running the program properly. Make sure you are doing the following...

Start Titanium/Backup&Restore/Menu/Batch/Backup all user apps/Run the batch operation

If you continue to have problems, have you hit the "Problems" button to update to the most recent Busybox??

Good luck

i was surprised with my first restore. apparently because i use TagHome instead of sense and Tag is an app, Titanium restored my background and all my home screen settings. some of my widgets didnt load but their location was held so i knew what i had there. i think if i restored everything BUT tag and then restored tag it would work fine. i think the widgets that didnt load were from programs restored after tag were

I love taghome and not many people I see use it. But yeah, I have the same problem you do, but restoring the widgets isn't a real problem though

On a somewhat related note, what is the difference between Titanium backups and a nandroid? Sorry for the n00bishness of my question...

Nandroid is basically a picture of everything on your phone including apps, settings, and current Rom and titanium is more for backing up individual items but Nandroid backs up everything on your phone at once
