When I try to send a text, I get, "free msg-unable to send message-message blocking is active"

Got an Motorola G7 and was just trying to send a text, the first one from the new phone when I got this message

Open the messaging app, tap the three-dot menu top right, and look at your settings. Tell us if no go.

Is this a new phone on an existing line or a new phone on a new line? Is it possible the account holder/manager has enabled text blocking? That message appears to be coming from the carrier, telling you the text blocking feature is turned on for the account.

Welcome to Android Central! I agree with hallux -- contact your carrier and ask if anything needs to be activated on their end.
