Hello, I am a convert from iphone. My device is the nexus 6p - loving it.

One thing im unaware of going forward is how apps migrate when I end up getting a new phone. For example when you switch from iphone to iPhone it puts all your existing apps on the newphone when you sign in.

Does android offer something similar if I have all my backup and sync turned on with Google? Will it auto download or at least give me a list of current apps when I switch phones?

Thanks for your help!

Hi there!

Yup, it will auto-download (with your permission) all apps installed in your latest backed-up phone, as long as they're compatible with the newer phone, of course. So I suggest being on WiFi when you do this or you'll have some pretty heavy data consumption hehe.

What SpookDroid said.

What phone are you thinking of switching to? Some phones are kind of wonky with switching from one to the other.

Not looking to switch, but judging by my experience with the nexus I'll continue to keep their phones I think.

How do I get notified when someone replies on my thread?

You can subscribe to the thread (and select the option on how to get notified) or if someone quotes your reply, then you'll see it in your dashboard counter (next to your username/avatar up top). To subscribe go to the Thread Tools menu (top of the thread, on the right) and hit the Subscribe option.

In addition, make sure you go into the Google Drive app, go into settings then manage backup. In there, you can manage the app data backups for the apps that support the API for it. Not a lot do (or at least not a lot that I have installed on my 6P). By default, I believe the apps that support the backup are enabled, or maybe that's something the dev. can choose to do.
