When, where, and how will Google strike next?

like the japanese release chart with 3 phones with tags nexus next to them? I'd rather the specs be hidden that way i can be surprised and have something to look forward too

No, I would like a leak to be much more substantially than the Japanese leak IMO. Sorry, I don't care to be surpirsed.

My point is this... it is now the end of September, wouldn't it be nice to get a heads-up from Google that they are planning a new Nexus soon ...and maybe a date to reveal it. I wasn't talking about leaked specs.

AND to know that next year that another Nexus will be coming with more details on who, what, etc...

Leaks kill hype.

Marketing needs hype.

Just saying.

The iPhone has plenty of leaks and only thing they kill are sales.

Kill sales? Let's see when the more sales numbers get released. The iPhone 5 will probably double iPhone 4S sales, just like the 4S doubled up on 4 sales.

When I talk about leaks killing hype, I'm referring to how everyone pretty much knew what to expect from the iPhone 5 but still expected it to blow everyone out of the water, leading to disappointment.

I agree. But in the end, the explanation is simple: marketing, right? They have a built-in user base and an easily recognizable brand. They don't need to market anymore, in the "traditional" sense.

The "nexus" is not an easily recognisible. The mass still don't know difference between Droid and Android. If you believe nexus brand is recognisible then there nothing much to say.

Where'd I say that? I was talking about Apple--the iPhone brand. Never once mentioned Nexus :).

Definitely agree there. I was just referring to the "pulse of the press". :)

So how isn't killing hype bad?

At least those that are disappointed with the iPhone 5 wait 4 months to get leaks on iPhone 5S or iPhone 6 and see if they will be happy waiting for the next iPhone. Where we wait and know little to nothing until nexus comes out and you no nothing until next nexus comes out. So if your disappoint the first time there no signs of you being pleased the second second time.

Have not heard about that either, but here's a picture: Is this Google IO screenshot a taste of Jelly Bean? (updated) | Ausdroid Take a look at the time in the right corner.

This could really be a hint, as the date would fit perfecty. As a release date of Jelly Bean, it obviously doesn't make sence, as it's already available. But let's say, they announce new products on October 25th - then they could go on sale on November the 5th, when Android is going to celebrate its 5th birthday.

This is as possible a date as I've heard. Would be a nice touch if it happened as you're predicting.

We've already established that Apple's marketing is doing enough to keep sales going.

I'm specifically talking about the buzz coming out of the iPhone 5 announcement. Quite negative because there was really nothing we didn't already know. The simple negative buzz could have been enough to turn someone who was on the fence away. It's not going to necessarily hurt overall sales. Again, I'm just talking about the buzz.

I would rather I see no leaks, have the product announced - but announced with a firm release date within two weeks of the announcement.

The Apple/iPhone. Still, where did you get Nexus from?

They don't need to market anymore, in the "traditional" sense.
Define the traditional sense because I assume you were talking about Google with the Nexus line.

Regardless if it is traditional or not Apple has made there method into success which Google should emulate that method.

Traditional sense meaning they no longer need to go out and win over customers--they have an established user base, an established brand, etc. They're living off of what prior generations of Apple products and iPhones have accomplished.

So why can't Google with the Nexus line do the same?

Or

Why Google is doing thing differently?

AND

Why you prefer how thing are now with Google then what I have compared Google to Apple to show what they could do?

Google doesn't have the same brand. They didn't have Steve Jobs to create that brand.
