When will I get my updates?

I bought my phone from Samsung and am with Vodafone Sim Only.

I understand that each carrier sends out phone updates at different times, but in my case, who determines when i get any updates?

I ask because I hear there is an update out and i have not seen it and I assumed buying from Samsung would mean I would likely get any updates the fastest?

I didn't buy the phone from Samsung for that reason by the way lol
