Cannot find any of my photos on Galaxy s5 after lollipop 5.0 update

Updated to Lollipop 5.0 last week. Cannot find all my pictures.

Have looked in "Gallery" & "Photos". Plugged phone into laptop and still could not find. Are they gone forever?? I had ALOT of pictures.

Will a wipe cache partition help?

Stupid ME, did not save to "cloud", etc.

When you installed Lollipop did it format your phone? You should always backup before installing a major OS update. I found this article about apps that can restore deleted photo's Best Apps to Recover Deleted Photos from Android Phone Gallery or SD Card - Android Advices but it sounds more liek the entire file system was written over so that is more like reformatting your HDD without backing up.

Re: Cannot find any of my photos on Galaxy s5 after lollipop 5.0 update

If you updated to Lollipop that shouldn't have happened. If you installed Lollipop, you installed a new system, without your existing data. Installing a system does a factory reset - which gives you an out-of-the-box phone.

Re: Cannot find any of my photos on Galaxy s5 after lollipop 5.0 update

I am not "techie" just an old lady looking or her gems.
My phone tells me it was an UPDATE to Android version 5.0.
I was under the impression that it was an UPDATE to LOLLIPOP 5.0. There were no instructions or cautions re: Back up of files, etc.
I still have all contacts, apps, downloads I had before the update to LOLLIPOP 5.0. All pictures that were not downloaded or on
sm card are gone??**##&&^ . Does this mean all the photos are gone to the Android 5.0 gods??

Thank you for the lead on the apps for deleted "stuff". After this mess, I am reluctant to download ANYTHING:- Do not know if Lollipop 5.0 formatted phone. Thanks again :)

Hi, I just stumbled across this old thread.

My girlfriend's photos on her Galaxy S4 started disappearing too after the Lollipop update. It turns out after the update, photos were deleted automatically after they automatically backed up to her Microsoft OneDrive. Her setting on her phone is to back up photos automatically to OneDrive when she's on WiFi. However, I can't seem to find a setting to turn off deleting photos automatically.

The auto-backup feature on WiFi we like, the auto-deleting of photos we don't like. However, I think we found a workaround. We tried moving the photos from her phone to her SD card and they seem to stay there even after an auto-backup.
