Where are the backup "folders" on my new phone?

Hello,

I used the Google backup thing to transfer my stuff into a new phone.
It had an option to select folders and I can't seem to find the folders.
I even checked the computer browser sites Drive and Photos and I couldn't find them.

Thanks!

Which device ?
If you go to Google drive >4 bars tap >back up , do you see that ?

What do you mean by selecting folders? Can you show us where in the restore process it asks you that?

There's a "Back up device folders" in the Photos and Videos section in Google Backups.
You can select individual folders to backup.

OK, on my old phone, I found the folders under "Library" in Google Photos.

However, they are not in my new phone.
I also can't find them in the browser site Google Photos.

Oh, and it didn't say I ran out of space.

So you're talking about the Google Photos backup feature (https://support.google.com/photos/answer/6193313?hl=en&co=GENIE.Platform=Android), not the Google Backup feature (https://support.google.com/googleone/answer/9149304?hl=en&co=GENIE.Platform=Android), correct?

When you choose a device folder to backup to your Google Photos in the cloud, those photos get included in your main Photos feed. They don't get backed up using the name of that folder. Assuming your phone is logged into the same Google account you used on the previous phone, then open your Google Photos app, and look through the main Photos feed (not the Library), and go to the month/date that correspond to those device folder photos. You should see them in your main Photos feed -- are you saying they're not there? Keep in mind that Google Photos will sort those photos depending on their date/time so if they were from a while ago, you'd have to scroll down to get to that past date.

Yes, that screen lists the backup of my old phone as well as my new phone.

When I setup my new phone it asks if I want to restore data from an old phone or something. I did and it copied over all the Apps, SMS, settings, etc. onto the new phone.

OIC. Thanks, found them scattered into the main area.

But wow, that is just about the dumbest feature I've ever heard of in a "Backup" application. I take it it doesn't actually copy over all the photos onto my new phone either. It has to be accessed via Google Photos.

The whole idea is to back up your photos to the cloud, where you can access them from anywhere -- on a phone, a computer, a Nest Hub, or anywhere you can access Google Photos. I think it's great -- you don't have to take up tons of space on your phone for your whole photo library, because it's easily accessible in the cloud. Any time you need a copy of a photo saved locally on the phone, you can just download it.

So all good now?

Yeah, but it wasn't what I expected. It's not really a "copyover" to the new phone as the backup application implied.

I guess I pretty much have to manually copy over the photos with specific folders (unless there's another app you gusy can recommend).
