Where are the MTP setting on my Galaxy S5 5.0?

The solution is to set first the phone as MTP+ADB by typing *#0808# and select from menu and confirm with ok, After that install Samsung Android USB Driver for Windows and then connect the phone to usb. Eventually ennable Developer Mode if it is not and check USB debugging.

I know I have tried that a dozen times and that menu has never popped up, until now. Mine was set to DM+Modem+ADB.

First time I connected it didn't load the driver. I connected again and pressed skip obtaining driver from windows update (Windows 7) and it loaded fine.

Thanks man

I just figured i would share my experience with this. The phone would not recognize at all. I checked the device manager and found the phone was giving code 43. So i tried a different cable(The phones original cable). And it worked without issue. Might be a good starting point if you are having this. I guess my other cable was either damaged, or possibly meant only for charging the E-reader it came with.

Well it happens
But Solution is download Usb switcher app from google play and then activate MTP mod then restart.
Next time u connect the phone you will have pop up notification for MTP or Camera
U can Uninstall the app after U select MTP mode.....
Have a good time....

You should be given a medal for your info!!! I have spent the last two days scouring the internet for a solution to this problem and all I have found again and again, and AGAIN, is "install usb drivers", "reboot" etc, etc etc.......THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR THIS INFO!! You are a technical wizard! THANK YOU!

Hi all,
I spent most of the day trying to figure out why USB Tethering was greyed out. I wanted to transfer photos from my phone to Facebook. The PC is running Windows 10 and I also tried it on an iMac running El capitan. Checked that USB Debugging was on, checked drivers on the PC, used *#0808# which showed the phone was set for MTP + ADB, all looked good. Then I realised I'd been using the cable off my mini jump start. Once I changed to a "proper" USB cable the problem went away. So my advice is, number one, check the cable because it could save you a lot of time. At least, by making sure the cable is good, you can be reasonably confident that you may need to take other measures.

Hope this helps.

Many thanks, this did the trick for me after months of frustration ! Cheers mate.
