I've been buying my phones from Best Buy for a while now. They always do instant rebates, even though Sprint is currently doing it, not sure for how long.

I actually didn't know that BB could do 1 yr upgrades. Either way, I was one of the ones who was recently stripped of my upgrade from Sprint's premiere plan changes. I called them up to get it back, and they said they'll do tier upgrade when I'm ready to buy a new phone. So I really don't want to push my luck, I'm just happy to be getting my upgrade at all.

Studentrate.com. If you have an .edu email account, jump on it! Seriously, I had preordered mine at best buy but later found this deal.

They informed me of an early June release date at $199.

I buy phones from Sprint, because I get the cost put on my bill. I try to time it so I get whatever rebate in right before the bill the costs are on...

That way I don't have to have any cash up front and have an almost instant rebate

Radio Shack,

-They are going to give me a $180 credit for my EVO.

-Their retail price will be the same as Sprint's, Best Buy screwed me last year by taxing me on $599 instead of $449 for the EVO.

-I will get something free thrown in....not sure what it is yet.

Those are my reasons.

radios shack

getting 180 for old evo 4g even if it drops a little so be it

if phone is only 200 only end up up paying about 30-35 with taxes

I'm expecting them to probably drop what they paying for it down closer to 150. Near launch. The 178.00 they offering now is dependent on phones condition

Hey guys,

I have been with AT&T for years now and am switching to Sprint for this phone and no bandwidth caps. I read that sprint will give some kind of discount for switching. Is that correct? And if so, will i get the same deal if i get it from BB? I have never bought anything from BB so I'm having a hard time deciding where to get it from.

Another question is, What would be the best option as far as warranties and insurance is concerned? I've read that its not worth buying the BB insurance, but others have said it is. Any help would be appreciated

(don't mean to hijack the thread, but y'all seem to know the most about this stuff.)

Here is the story about the discount:
Sprint offers $175 credit to switch carriers - May. 12, 2011

Don't know if you can't get it outside of Sprint.

I personally have the Sprint insurance which it went up to $8 a month, but anything that is not physical damage they fix it, physical damage there is a $50 or $100 deductible depending on your phone
Repair, Protect, Replace

The credit is $125
Port In Credit

If/When you switch, DO NOT CANCEL your plan with ATT, go in and basically hand your phone to a sprint rep. This way you will get your credit and your old numbers and contacts.

Best buy will NOT honor the $125 number porting credit, that is a Sprint only promo. I went into the local BB on Monday and verified this. What they did tell me is that they could apply any of their discounts (currently a $50 discount on all sprint phones) and then make up the difference ($75) in accessories, in theory applying that same discount. Since in my case I am switching two lines, I would have A LOT of car chargers.

I did not choose that route for that fact and
1. I will have to pay my current carrier ~$68 to cancel per line, which may be "credited" in accessories I wouldn't buy otherwise... instead of a credit to future bills
2. I would have a hard time getting $150 in accesories, even for 2 phones
3. I would have to wait for the 3D to come out, who says they will honor their price adjustment at that point, especially if the $50 discount drops, and even if they do honor it... now I have to find $250 in accessories... aka a lot of stick on phone jewels
4. BB will apply employer discounts but I have a piece of mind doing it at the sprint store (the company I am actually paying for my service)
5. Sprint has actual phones on display for me to play with and test out... their stores/reps deserve my business/comission.

Man that sucks. I was really hoping I could stack that discount on top of buying from amazon or somewhere else that's cheaper than sprint.

Thanks for the responses.
After talking to my local sprint store, they informed me that if I have and aol.com email account when i sign up for my service, they will waive the activation fee. Just a tip for anybody who was unaware.

I've pre-ordered at BB but was also considering pre-ordering at Sprint. Just wondering if anyone else has placed pre-orders with both Sprint and BB/and or RS. I'm hoping to get peoples opinions to see if this is overkill. I'm concerned that BB will somehow mess up the pre-orders and I won't end up with a phone. Does anyone know if the gift card with Sprint is refundable?

I'm doing something similar (since I didn't know if the card was refundable from Sprint). I preordered at BB and I'll just go to the sprint store when they open on release day. Then if I can't get one from them, I'll just hope that BB has their act together and actually saved me a phone.

I pre-ordered mine at Sprint a week ago in the Bay Area, CA. The rep told me that the gift card is non refundable but can be used for anything Sprint sells and it does not expire. That's almost no risk. I like getting mine at Sprint because of the 30 day satisfaction guarantee. Does anyone here recommend getting the stolen/broken insurance through Sprint? If not, any recommendations? Thanks.

I too am wondering about the insurance. My GF and I are starting a new plan... and well... yeah...
