I have a brand new 16gb Samsung galaxy s5 and its saying 14.98gb total space, 644mb available, and 283mb of apps. Where did my memory go? I cant download no more that about 4 apps and then I run into the insufficient storage message. When I go to application manager it says 14gb used and 644mb available I haven't even downloaded an app and the apps and bloatware on there doesn't even add up to 14 gigs! Where did the storage and memory go and how can I fix this problem?? No photos or videos on the phone the phone is brand new.

May be you already have many pictures and video files on your phone? Please pay attention that if you record a video by high definition quality, it takes much space on the disk/phone storage.

Look in Storage or My Apps. If the system is taking too much space, say over 6gb you may have a log file problem which I don't fully understand but I can find a reference for.
It can be cleared with a service code access which may not work on some carrier phones.
Let us know where the large storage is.

That's just it I can't find what's taking up the space. It doesn't even tell me how much my system is taking up. It just says total space ... Available... And apps... When I go to apps there is nothing taking up not even a gigabit.

Hi. If you have an S5 you should have Storage under the General tab, and the My Files icon in the Samsung or Galaxy folder. My older Touchwiz on my Note 3 will only look a little different.

If those are not there you gotta question the origin of the S5.

On Edit:

So it sounds like it's not genuine.

I may be missing or forgetting something. I have little information to work on, you won't be able to post screenshots yet, and I am the dumbest occasional contributor here (trust me)!

There are apps like Antutu Benchmark which has a phone info page that reads the hardware, Phone Specs, there was a Genuine Galaxy app. *There still is though it's not Samsung*

In About Device - Status, the bottom would list as device status : official (that may vary by carrier).

I would check it out. You may be able to dial #0*#, get a csc number and check it on Sammobile.
Or download Samsung kies to a pc, then connect via usb, that will also tell you.

Let us know if you get satisfaction from the seller.

Thanks. Still awake here in the UK!
That's confusing to me. The Storage shot in the first post doesn't look right at all.
The antutu results look correct though. Yet your battery icon is green though you are on KitKat and it should be white.

I will ask someone to look at it.

PLEASE REMOVE or retake and hide your 1st Antutu where it shows your IMEI #
.

OK I removed the first antutu and thanks.. I don't know what to do.. Because results are telling me system storage is taking up everything but yea when I go to storage on the phone there is no system storage and there is hardly no space available

That's really weird. When did you get the phone and is it under warranty? I'm sure there is a way to fix it but I honestly don't know how.
