go to storage--->downloads---> click on recently downloaded items---> press the "share" button at the upper r-hand corner---> MAIL them to yourself and before you re-download them again- specify to Android what folder you specifically want downloads to go into.
This is an insane clown posse circus because of proprietorship and self-entitlement.
They designed the software therefore they control how you use YOUR data on the software.
Its the same Apple propietor****- only Google style.
Otherwise if you downloaded something on a chrome browser (a strictly Google product) on your Android then you would find it in an Android phone (again- a strictly Google product) under the "download" folder- so appropriately supplied and named.
But you don't and instead you have to search through subfolders upon subfolders....and still even under android--->data--->com.google.android.etc. etc. we never recover our time lost downloading and never PRACTICALLY find our files.
