Where is my hotspot??

Recently bought a samsung galaxy s7 and everything i've read says that there should be a hotspot option under settings or connections butnit isn't there or anywhere! Can someone please help?

If it's a carrier branded version it'll only be there if the carrier allows it. There are apps that can show a hidden HotSpot option but it'll still depend on your carrier if you can actually use it (and charges might apply)

Hiw do I know if my carrier allows it or not? I would assume that they do because my other phone (samsung galaxy j7 crown)has a hotspot that I use all the time and they are both on the straight talk network...

You'd have to call them and make sure that they allow it both on your line and on your phone. They might have to just send the settings to your phone to get it active.

I'm thinking that maybe I should've just bought another j7 crown....its A LOT cheaper & has the hotspot! Lol!
But I'll give them a call and see what I come up with ...thanks for your help!

can't you find it via the notification menu while pulling it down completely?

originally it's very down the line, it'll not just show up on the initial row. have a lock there. I've mine moved to the top row third icon

also in the connections menu, there is an entry that says 'mobile Hotspot and tethering'

if you can't find both it's probably a os branding issue. are both your phones branded by some carrier? are both unlocked? or are they probably branded by different carriers?

Straight Talk isn't a carrier, they're an MVNO (mobile virtual network operator). They use all 4 of the big carriers, so one phone may be on a carrier that allows hotspot usage, the other one may be on a carrier that doesn't. (If you bought the phones in Straight Talk boxes, the color of the map will tell you the carrier it's on.)
