Whatsapp chat history disappeared during transfer

Someone recently asked me to help transfer their Whatsapp chat history from their old phone (Sony Xperia Z5, a very old phone now) to their new phone, a Samsung Galaxy S23 FE. I used the QR code method and during this process for some reason the chats completely disappeared from the old phone, the chats were not backed up anywhere and I have no idea how to get the chats back or where they are stored on the old phone, please can someone help?

Hi, yes I checked those steps but could not find the issue I am having, I need to locate where the old Whatsapp chats are located on the phone and I have no idea what the file name would be.

make sure your phones are both connected to the same Wi-Fi, live location is turned on, and you've accepted all requested permissions, Unfortunately, we can't restore chats because chat history isn’t stored on their servers.

I lost my chat history as well when I did the transfer from my S22 ultra to P9P xl. I think it was a setting in the app itself that caused me to lose it. My wife was able to transfer her chat history. It wasn't a big deal for me as they weren't important.
