I bought two of them at Sam's Club on Black Friday for 98 cents each. Then called AT&T and got them to waive the activation fee. Wal-Mart is selling them for $139 but then you get a $100 gift card so the net cost should only be $39.
Did you wake up super early and wait in line outside, Dubg? Or were you able to just walk in?
I didn't want to deal with the trouble so I went to Best Buy at 7 AM and was able to easily get a Pebble Blue phone for $49.99 plus tax, etc.
I got there at 4am and waited for 3 hours. I was the first in line for a phone. There were about 4 people in front of me for TVs. By the time the store opened the line for phones was probably about 40 people. They were going to be waiting a while for all of the phones to get activated.
Sounds like our local Sam's Club handled it smarter. I got my S3 back when they were released, and wanted to get my wife one now. We arrived at our Sam's Club at 6AM for their 7AM opening (I was prepared to head to Walmart for their $129 and $100 gift card if that time didn't get me the Sam's 96 cent phone). We got in line, and about 6:30 an employee came out and went down the line asking what each customer was in line for and handing out "vouchers" which guaranteed you the item when the store opened at 7AM and you went inside. For one thing, that prevented the "mad dash" through the store trying to beat others to the particular department/item.
For those of us who were there for the S3, they gave us a voucher AND an appointment for a specific time to come back and purchase/activate the phone. Ours was actually the next day at 4PM. So we were able to leave the line without ever going in, and went and grabbed breakfast at a restaurant nearby! Returned the next day at the appointed time, and only had to wait about 5 minutes before a rep was working on getting my wife's new red S3 activated and setup!
