Where's the microphone button on my LG G2 keyboard?

Why isn't there a microphone button on my text message keyboard? How do you send responses via speech to text? I know you can start a text using voice mate, but how do you respond to a regular text by voice?

Is Google Voice typing enabled?
Settings-language and input- google voice typing...check box

I had the same issue, enabling this caused the microphone to appear in keyboard (directly to the left of the space bar is where you select input type.)
