Which Car Dock did you go with?

I went with the Verizon car dock and love it! It automatically goes to the car mode with quick launch for navigation. Definitely worth the $.

The only problem is that you cannot use any skins or cases, it is a very tight fit.

I want to purchase the Verizon dock but I'm the paranoid type that always fears someone will think I have a GPS in the car and break in my car lol. I could always remove it each day but the suction cup marks ruin that idea. :(

Besides, I had one for my Droid 2 but the steep windshield of the 2008 Civic while a great idea makes these docks a bit out of place if you understand my point. Hm, what to do? LOL, I figure the battery is considered weak and even though it lasts me plenty most of the time, the dock would be a great way to charge it if needed.

Sorry for the rant! :)

It comes with a disc you can stick to the dash. That means no problem with ring marks and no problems with bad angles.

I must have OCD because I feel like that junks up the car. LOL, it's all good though. In case you can't tell, I'm a huge car buff. :)

I don't have a Thunderbolt, but I do have a Droid X. This is the car mount that I went with.

My thinking is why would I get a mount that will only fit my phone (& only without a case no less)? My wife has a Droid 2 & this will fit nearly every smartphone. The Thunderbolt (even with a case) should fit since the DX & Evo do. You can order this one with a vent mount, a suction cup mount, or even a friction mount.

I know nothing about the mount made for the Thunderbolt. I'm sure it is nice, but why go with an option that only limits you, you know?

I also love the Verizon Dock. Had several through the years and this is by FAR the best one. I think it's pretty obvious when it's in there that there's nothing in the dock, wouldn't be worried about it being broken in for that. JMHO (no suing if I'm wrong lol)

I never had a problem with my Motorola Droid 2 dock but it's always something I think about. As a college student studying Criminal Justice, I think I'm being a bit paranoid after all these courses. Haha

Why wouldn't you go with the Verizon dock that's specifically designed for the phone? I bought it and it really is cool. It may be a little pricier than the generic ones, but it's worth it since it's designed for the phone and there is a built in charging port.

I have a quick question for everyone who has the Verizon dock. I keep hearing that the phone is difficult to remove because it locks in the mount. Is it that difficult? I think I'm just going to go for it but I don't want to feel like I'm breaking my phone in half by doing it.

I've heard stories of people having cars broken into because the thief saw and empty dock or suction cup rings on the windshield and broke in assuming the GPS unit was in the glove box. Some family friends of ours said this happens all the time where they winter in Arizona.

You've got to love the mind of a criminal. That's the main thing that makes me scared to have this on my windshield but it's so convenient as a phone charger.

It is a little difficult the first couple of times, but if you just grab it by the corners and pull up it isn't bad. Hopefully every knows that the top part of the dock lifts up to allow the phone to be pulled out straight up.

Does Verizon car dock work with extended battery?

I have been using an universal windshield mount instead of a dock but I am seriously thinking about getting a car dock.

No. Stock phone as it and that's it.
That being said...if I know I'm gonna go somewhere and need navigation, I'm getting naked and skinny (the phone, of course...lol).

No one had the dock by me so I ordered with my discount and paid 32 shipped overnight....the same I would've paid walking in and buying it.

The arm is a little long and it vibrates/bounces a little even though I have both spots tightened down.

Then again I'm in a full size truck not a Caddy/Luxury SUV...so there you go.

I'm going to end up taking it apart and cutting it up a little so it'll fit the bigger battery, perhaps even the case...but not just yet.

Where have you purchased the Verizon car dock? I have looked online and in the store with no luck.

I just went ahead and bought THIS ONE FROM BRACKETRON at the HTCPedia web site. It fits in air vent, can be rotated to landscape, and the side braces can be adjusted width wise as well as vertically. I had one that was similar before for my old phone but it didn't open wide enough for this phone.

I bought mine at the Verizon store. It is difficult to get out the first few times, but you get the hang of it.

I feel like a complete idiot because I had no idea why my phone would not go into Navigation Mode. Plus, my phone was never difficult to remove even though I've only used it once since I bought it today. The problem? I didn't click it in! LOL
