Which cheap full spec phone?

My contract is coming up for renewal and I'm looking to upgrade my phone. At present I have an HTC Desire C. I like it's relatively small size and low price. My two main gripes are that it's a little slow and whilst it has a great array of sensors, it doesn't have an electronic compass.
I'm after a phone that's a bit quicker and has a compass. It can't be too big and should be relatively cheap - any suggestions?

A certain price you want to stay under? The Nexus 5 is relatively cheap, depending on what it's compared to. The Moto G is also a great phone and can be had for $199(GSM Version) or $99 (Verizon version.)

Or... Wait 2 more months and get the OnePlus One. Identical specs as the S5, except the One has 3GB ram instead of two. For only 300 dollars? Hell yeah.
