Which messaging app?

8SMS (beta), followed by Google Messenger. I suspect you'll get a ton of Textra endorsements.

Google messenger, its super simple, gets the job done

I like the stock one but really don't care for the orange. I use Messenger.

Have used Textra in the past but don't like that you can't send a group message as individual messages (like BCC). Therefore, I have used the stock messaging app since I got my s6 and think it's fine. It's quick, works with multi-tasking, and has reply as individual messages. The bells and whistles are definitely fewer than Textra's.

I am intrigued by Verizon's messaging app that came pre-installed. Apparently, it allows for wifi messaging like iMessages. Has anybody used it? I see it stores only 3 months or so of your text log. Is there any way to back up all messages with something like SMS Backup or is that one of the sacrifices of using Verizon's program? Might give it a try when I travel.

@Tall guy...i am using textra pro but it keeps crashing which is annoying.

Tried Google Messenger? It looks a lot like the stock app but you can in fact change colors for each contact if you wish. Supports GIF's too

Google Messenger is my choice.

You might want to try a new app that is in Alpha called AWSMS. It just got a major overhaul and really looks nice with lots of features like Textra has. In addition, it has the option to set for group messages as either SMS or MMS.
