Thanks,

Either way its controlled by the carrier. If you get a HTC One online and activate it on AT&T you will get the same updates as AT&T users.

The HTC unlocked version won't have the AT&T carrier bloat on it which is contained in the AT&T image. I'm not sure how the OTA will work, but if nothing else you can flash the HTC direct unlocked phone once the image hits the internet. But as mentioned, the only other difference will be the AT&T software and typical 6mo wait on OS updates.

Edit: Oh and after tax you are spending like $75 more than direct from HTC

Incorrect.

Dev unit is unlocked and cannot be controlled by ATT or T-Mo.

He never mentioned Dev unit. Just unlocked. BIG difference.

Either way, I missed the unlocked part to so that was my mistake. Yes if its unlocked you avoid the carrier BS.

The unlocked version should be getting its updates from HTC directly, AT&T has no control over it. I'm personally gonna wait out the "Delay" for a unlocked version.

Same here, they updated my order with free overnight shipping. And end of april is only a week and half, so .. yeah, I can wait. It's worth it in the long run... but I have the itch.. must fight urge to get today..

Yeah I've got the itch myself but I'm just gonna wait. Although considering that I'll end up on Tmobile I'm tempted to go the Tmobile route. They're even offering Saturday delivery.

Unlocked 32 or unlocked 64(dev edition) are gonna be the same feature for feature as the AT&T One models. HSPA+ bands and LTE bands are good to go.

You can easily flash a international rom on the ATT version. If that's your thing
