I got my Nook yesterday and want to start the rooting fun. But first I have to get an SD card. What card and size should I get? 8gb, 16gb and should it be class 6 or class 10? What brand...Scandisk, PNY? Just curious as to what y'all think is the best to get for rooting. Also should I root to the SD card or to the internal memory?

Thanks. I see you are running CM7 Nightly. Is that on SD card or internal memory?

I have a Transcend class 6 off of amazon that I just purchased and am pretty much dissapointed in it. I have not run any benchmarks, but my class 4 scandisc seems to run builds faster than it on the nook.
Id recommend sticking to Scandisc, at least class 6.. class 10 if extra speed is worth the extra money to you and you plan on keeping your build external. Otherwise the Transcend is a few dollars cheaper and is ok for testing purposes before you install thing internally.

Thats a good guide to go by, however my understanding is that there is no real regulations or standards companies have to meet to class a card. Its kind of each own companies rule of thumb. Due to this, you can get very different results from different companies even with the same class number. My transcend is a perfect example, its a class 6, but performs closer to what you would expect from a class 2.

i have a transcend 16gb class 6
it works well
got it on amazon

My version of this card would not allow anything to boot from SD. Multiple force closes before anything could even get a chance to work!

The 8 gig on the other hand has been fantastic.
