I just found out that the password manager I use, LastPass, will support the Pixel 4's face unlock.

That's great news for me!

But what other apps will support the new security paradigm?

That's up to the developer, unless Google makes "biometric unlock" an API (or a class), and lets the phone decide which one to use. Right now, it's up to the app developer (in Android 10 - the Android 9 biometrics class is still limited to fingerprints from what I can see) to see what biometric authentication is available.

There are 5 that is support it as of now. Dashlane, 1Password, Keeper, Password Safe, and Robinhood.

another thought here....even if face unlock is not supported, it will default to PIN. So, you can still use the app and the device....

The issue there is if one uses a password manager app that doesn't support Face Unlock, then he has to manually type in the master password of the password manager app each time he needs to copy/paste a password for another app such as a bank.

Most users have something more than a simple PIN as the master password for a password manager app.

Exactly this. I use LastPass, and while I hear FaceID support is coming , it's not here yet. I suspect lots of apps will be this way for this first generation unfortunately.

I think Lastpass beta already supports it for those who do not mind living life on the edge.

I think the password managers will all be quite quick as they are competing with each other to a degree. I think though that banking apps will be the ones that lag behind. I could probably live with that for a while TBH. I use Lastpass multiple times a day but banking not so much

I work at a credit union and our online app vendor supports it but we need to request that it be added. Once I get back from vacation next week I'll start working on it.
