There is absolutely no battery issues on this and I've used it heavily. I have not killed the batter since I purchased it yesterday and have no doubt I can go 24 hours. I do not have ATK (Advanced Task Killer installed). Also I have had no issues with the non-responsiveness of the screen.

Even more.... I have not had to do the upgrade!

I should also add... i have alway on mobile data checked. I kept GPS on the whole time and actually used it twice for 45 minutes as well as again 30 minutes.

I'm at 14 hours 15 mins since unplugged (basically two hours after i purchased yesterday).

I'm running a live wallpaper called seeds of life.

I kept reading espn articles from the bed last night

I have to catch a plane in 8 hours so I will need to charge it before the 24 hour mark... but I'm very impressed so far.

Maps have been 9% of battery usage. Sprint Navigation has been 7%

i have a Black Evo hardware revision 002 and i have no problems with the phone. No backlight bleed or screenlifting issues. I also have no battery issues since update with the last OTA update. I can go for 16 hours or so. I also have the GPS and wifi on all the time as i like those features. i mostly stream pandora and use google maps and some web browsing.

I realize some black ones came issue free. My first black one had the nonresponsive screen and lasted 4 hours out of the box and took two weeks to really "condition".

The latest software update fixed most of the battery problems for me. I have a feeling it could be optimized more, so I'm hoping HTC can push out another update or two to get that ball rolling. But I can't complain, my phone can go through the entire day now!
