Who is a storm going to Droid X?

I had a BB storm 2, along with my wife. I'm so glad that I made the switch. I have a droid incredible at the moment which will soon be my wifes because she thinks the droid x will be a little to big for her. Works for me!:D

Torn...

Hey there...

I am a Storm 1 owner and am SO sick of this phone. Love the BB thing, but this particular phone just does not have enough app memory.

Now, I have an Incredible on the way, but plan to swap that for a Droid X.. I'm soooo torn though. I love the Incredible (I play with my husband's), but I love the bigger X.. I will play with the X at the Verizon store once it comes out, but my only hesitation so far? I don't like the look of the X... I know, dumb.. but I just love the sleek look of the Incredible. I'm a tech-junkie though, so I love the specs of the X.

Torn...

Uh huh..

Yeah, she plays with mine a little too much :D Get the X - who cares about the looks so much.

After a 1year! I hate my Storm.......I've been patiently waiting for a device thats worth upgrading to.....and looks like my wait wasn't in vain. DROID X here I come.

Coming from a Storm since launch day (on my third one as well). Cannot wait to get into an Android phone. I got to play with the Droid X for a little bit today. Everything was really nice and snappy. The demo videos they had on it looked fantastic. I had an order in for the HTC Incredible since June 21st, had them cancel it and am getting the Droid X on release day. Very happy with the decision.

ordered my storm 1 day after launch. lasted almost a year before a broken screen made it unusable. paid deductible and got replacement and the screen on it was really tight in one corner and it broke about 2 weeks later. this however never affected how it worked until 2 weeks ago. my first one always worked perfectly and never had any problems untill it broke. the second one sucked from day one even before it broke. but was still usable. it freezes constantly.

the last few weeks have been hell. when in a sms, the space bar is now sending messages. and half the keyboard types the wrong letter no matter what im doing, unless i do a full reboot. and it works fine for about 2 hours.

I get my new every 2 discount the first week of august.
i emailed verizon and told them my delima of not wanting to pay insurance deductible on a phone i was going to replace in a month, and that i wanted the droid x.
the moved my discount up to the monday before the 15th so i can go ahead and upgrade. im actually really impressed with their customer service on this. though i figured it was a reasonable request since it was only 3 weeks early and my phone is barely working.

Getting mine on launch day

I have had my Storm for 18 months and the X is coming right as I am getting sick of it and can't wait for BB6 to come around.

Verizon will upgrade your phone with the new every two if you are within 3 months of your upgrade date.. I've done before with my parents phones.

Haha, I like your sig! I have a Storm 1 and it was my first smart phone. I was so excited to get it, but it's been nothing but a downward spiral ever since. My wife recently got a Devour and she keeps having to take it away from me. It's not the best Android phone, yet it does everything better than mine.

Regardless of RIM's intentions, they really seemed to market the Storm as a multimedia phone and an iPhone competitor, and it doesn't do either of those things well at all. I think the biggest problem I have with the Storm is that I was so excited, and it ended up being a huge let down. I don't see myself feeling the same way about the X.

I've had a storm since day one. The one thing I love is I can fly through texts on it. But I will be getting an X

lol thats almost exactly where I'm at too, besides the facebook app that i feel is horrible. running a lyricidal hybrid over the leaked .591.

Yeah I typically run Oneofakindpc stuff but its so much better than 328. I got my BB for the FB app. Seriously

I will be switching from the Storm 2 to the X. I got tired of super slow browser and the constant updates you had to do. RIM just dosen't get it. If they came out with their OS 6 I might have stuck around but they are in no rush to put anything out. And when they do, it usually is a dud. I just put a deposit down on my X yesterday. Can't wait.

I'm new to this site/forum and the first thread I see is who is going from a Storm to an X lol...Yeah I'm going from a Storm 1 to the X. Storm has been the worst device I've ever owned, what a long 18 months. Cannot wait for next Thursday to get here.

When I spoke to CSR last night about my Storm1 constantly rebooting or my numerous, daily battery pulls to keep it limping along, he let out a small chuckle and apologized to me about the Storm. His quote: "I think we all learned a hard lesson on that one, but wait until you switch to Android...it will blow your mind!"

Better yet, when I order my X online next Thursday, with the free overnight shipping, it will arrive on my birthday...can't beat that one!:D

My first smartphone was the Storm 1 & after 13 months of "dealing" with it, VZW sent me a Storm 2 to replace it. The S2 is definitely better than the 1, but I'm tired of all the bugs & feeling like I'm in the dark ages with it, with nothing to really look forward to. I use it primarily for business on BIS.

My questions to all of the BB users here are - How well do Android phones handle email? Are there any limitations?

I appreciate any feedback that anyone could give.

My fathers hotmail is kind of bizarre on his Droid1, you have to completely shutdown the phone and turn it back on to make it fetch the emails, otherwise it just says loading for the next 12 hours. As for gmail, that account is great.

its not as fast/snappy as blackberry. I tried email tests on my friend's Droid and they are slower. However as long you are running a Gmail account its definitely acceptable. I'm not to sure about other accounts.

Thanks for the responses so far. I'm mainly concerned with emails other than gmail, yahoo, hotmail, etc. I guess I should have stated that in my original post. The 2 that I'm most concerned about are exchange (web-based) & RoadRunner accounts. Please forgive me if I'm not being very clear as I'm not very experienced in this matter. Also, I'm not too concerned about the speed as my BB receives emails about a half hour after my computer.

Again, I appreciate the feedback.

I havn't used either of those, but running gmail on them is the safest way to go, its much faster, plus you feel like your using the right email for the phone, google os w/gmail
