Was wondering who is going to actually follow the instructions and leave the phone off and charge it for x hours like you are supposed to do with Batteries? Do you have to with this battery? Just wondering.

I've always activated new phones on sprint with the phone charging and a nearly dead battery rather than charging to full. Never had a problem.

I've only ever had one battery stop holding a charge and that was in my Sanyo 5800 or whatever and it was 2 years old so...about time anyway.

Hmm, I dont think I've ever actually done this before. Not sure what sort of impact if any it has had on the longetivity of my batteries.

I am going to most likely leave it on but plugged in to charge. Once they activate it I will need it on incase a business call comes in while I took the day off to play with my new phone.

I want to, and may, but I really can't have it off, because I need a phone for work.

No, battery conditioning with Li-Ion is like the Cake.

A lie.

i disagree.

battery "memory" with lithium ion is a myth. BUT battery "conditioning" is real.

lithium ions do not have a memory - so you can charge them as you like and you won't "hurt" them. but battery life will improve after you run them through a few full charge/deplete cycles ie "condition" them.

Ah, apologies... what I mean is... if you use the phone with half a charge and not charge it and kill it as soon as you get it, it's no big deal.

Yes, "conditioning" itself is real. But fully charging it the first time in the name of "conditioning" isn't... that'll happen over weeks with regular use.

Not a chance. And if the weather is good I'll be taking the kids to the pool and be the geek sitting by the ac outlet playing with his phone.

Who here, like me, is tired of all the QQ about battery life. BUY A SPARE BATTERY. My gadgets forced me to carry a messenger bag years ago, and I carry multiple batteries on virtually all units that allow it. I have two spare batteries for my Sony DSC-HX5V, none for my kindle 2 because it can't(and doesnt need a spare battery, I am going to be getting a spare for my Asus T91MT and plan to get two spare batteries for the EVO. As I understand, the batteries are interchangeable with the HTC Incredible and HD2, though the former's battery is 200mAh less. This means I may be able to get away with just one expanded capacity battery as my main and the stock battery as a spare :)

i wonder if after activating all those EVOs, i will even want to play with mine... i might not want to see one for a bit.

Don't go all crazy on us here, you'll still want to play with it. Sadly I have to wait another month to get my Evo and toss my Pre in the drawer.

Wow, I am barely getting by waiting until 6/4. I have no idea how I would wait that long, that would drive me crazy!! i:)i

Hell I am taking the day off just to have as much time to play, err set up, my phone. I could not possibly get it just to then sit it on a charger all day! No way!!!!!

I also agree, you really HAVE to have a spare battery. I already ordered one and if it needs it I will order yet another and have two spares. I want to be able to use this as much as I want and not think about batteries so it will get as many batteries as is needed to get me through the day!

I'll grab a beer with you. I am in the same boat and have to wait until July 1..Stupid Pre and Sprint was not being negotiable with me even after I got to retentions...They called my bluff and won...

this shouldve been a poll. I never leave my off to charge. I hope this doesnt affect the battery. I just might follow directions this time though :D
