Who is ditching note 5 for note 7?

I'm staying for now because my Note is running great! Besides the bigger battery it doesn't have any groundbreaking upgrades for me. Plus the camera isn't wide-screen anymore which is pretty annoying.

I think it's kind of funny how when the Note 5 came out and did not have a SD card slot, everyone complained, and now that it's coming back in the Note 7, people aren't saying there's any major upgrades LOL

The iris scanner, the SD card slot, the upgraded S Pen ,water resistance, Gorilla Glass 5, the battery , the screen, larger internal memory , the better camera , increased S Pen sensitivity...

There's lots of improvement from the Note 5.

I preordered mine on jump on demand and I'm really looking forward to it.

This is the thing though, not everyone cares about those things you mentioned, that's why whether or not the Note 7 is a major upgrade from the note 5 is subjective.

I do not care about the water resistance, never needed it before, don't need it now. My Note 5 is 64GB and I have 24GB free, so no improvement for me there. Gorilla glass 5, have you seen how many people that have already cracked or scratched it, and that the curved screen is causing issues for screen protectors with cases?

The only thing about the Note 7 that I really care about are the new s-pen features. The only reason I changed my opinion about the iris scanner being just a gimmick is due to reading that it can also be used to use apps privately while simultaneously using it publicly minus what you marked as private.
I haven't seen any average users mention that though.

Right about now I'm having buyers remorse. Even though I am having battery issues with my 5, I didn't need this phone. I just wanted it. I'm trying to justify spending all that money upgrading. Lol

Well if you're on Verizon network and you upgrade with at least an 8GB Verizon plan, they're gonna give you an additional 2Gb free for life. My BF really feels justified even more so upgrading now. I have the Note 5 and he really liked my phone but since it's not that much cheaper than the Note 7, he went with the 7.

I suppose that's a good thing. Remember 5 years ago when processors were slow, screens were still being improved, OSs a bit wonky. We've kind of leveled off IMHO.

I too have a nine year old, Panasonic Plasma Screen, with speakers, that at the time was the finest plasma or large screen you could buy. It's still running well, the colors and especially the black and whites are phenomenal. When it goes, will have to replace it with probably a Samsung 'bright' screen.

I've been watching the posts on the forum the last few days as the Note 7 folks have been getting used to their phones. There are quite a few who quite possibly are having buyer's remorse at having given up their Note 5's, especially the 64GB versions.

Aside from a few bells and whistles on the Note 7, some of which are nice upgrades, the Note 5's processor, display and mechanics are very much in line with the Note 7's. I especially like the FLAT SCREEN of the Note 5 where the protective ballistic screen protector... covers the entire screen with no peeling away.

I posted this the other day that I got a warranty replacement for my very well used Note 5, got everything transferred over, appears to have a new factory battery in it, or one that was barely used.

I'm getting 5 hours SOT and sometimes 5.5 hours SOT from the replacement phone. This tells me that after nine months of hard use, the batteries do degrade... and this will be for ALL Samsung sealed phones and all phones in general with sealed batteries.

I really like my Note 5... a lot! And yes, the Note 7 appears to be a feature packed, loaded and well designed phone. However, I've NEVER been a fan of the edge design. Hopefully Samsung will steer away from the edge on the Note 8.

I finally decided, I am not buying it.
Too many people mentioning scratches and cracks. If Samsung comes out with a flat design along with the curve, or at least acknowledge that the Note 7 is a too fragile and will produce a more durable glass I will reconsider.

Gorilla Glass 5 is more shatter resistance but prone to more scratches then gorilla glass 4.

I have a note 7 and I'm coming from a note 5 and my biggest complaint with the 5 is the no removable storage ...I was constantly stuck trying to shuffle things around for space and that took away from having a device that i can hold for awhile....The refinements of the note 7 are good and it is a more fragile design but I like it overall...With that being said if your content with your storage size the note 5 is still a great phone.....But the Note 7 is a true power users dream...

I kind of thought about buying one at the beginning but have pretty much decided against it. I've heard of too many people getting scratches on the screen simply from putting it in a pocket.

No chance. The 7 feels so much better in your hand. Not regretting my decision to get the 7. And the battery life is sooo much better on the 7!

Was gong to buy the Note 7 last week until a Higher Power woke me in the middle of night and demanded "Why".

My N5 is less than 10 months old. I don't use any security features like a code or fingerprint. So the Iris feature is just an expensive (beta) unnecessary feature.

I have no lag and if a problem arises I simply do a factory reset.

I have 64 gigs which is plenty and the N7 adds no additional ram.

The only advantages are the water resistance and added S pen features. But I don't shower with my phone and I got the S pen system down pretty good.

So, no, I'll wait until the Note 8.

I got the 32g Note5 when it came out, had a long struggle whether to get the S7 due to the piety storage.
But after a Master Reset, for some reason, it gave me extra much needed 3-4gb of space, and I just forgot about the S7.

While Note 7 extra feature is nice, the extra premium minus trade in price is a bit hard to swallow.
I wished that they had added a better processor or more ram to make it a true next generation device.

It seems you really don't understand that on-paper specs & numbers do not matter at all.
Anyways, here is the explanation:
1) Iris scanner is not at all a gimmick. This has been proved in lot of video reviews (I hope you have watched most of them by now) by some famous YouTubers. It works flawlessly & the useful scenarios for Iris scanner would be when your fingers are wet (or home button) or do not want to make that home button oily (like when you are eating food). This is when Iris scanner would definitely come in handy.

2) Snapdragon 820 is quite a powerful chipset & no users are experiencing any issues (except those from mobile carriers like T-mobile, Verizon, etc. because of their useless apps that come with the phone). If more performance testing / stability testing is needed to be done for a better experience to the end user, engineers at Snapdragon know better about this & you can expect next version of this processor (821, 823, etc.) in the upcoming smartphones.

3) 6 GB RAM is really a ridiculous idea. Don't know why people give importance to numbers without understanding the technical know-how.
Android handles RAM in a different manner & sadly, more than 70% people compare it with Windows RAM management system. 4 GB RAM is enough for a smartphone & moreover, unused RAM is wastage in Android world.

4) Water resistant is nowadays important (at least in tropical countries where it rains frequently & unpredictably). Moreover, you never know when your phone will get wet due to water spillage, rains, storms, etc. Now newer phones (other manufacturers) in the market are also making their phones "water resistant" but you cannot use those if the display is wet because the touch won't respond properly.
Well, now on Note 7, with the S Pen also designed for water resistance, you can seamlessly carry on with your work, with full & functional touch response from the display, regardless of whether your fingers are wet or display is wet.

Conclusion: Don't just ridicule a smartphone just because the numbers are important & these "other manufacturers" are offering "more" (useless) RAM.
The real-world usage, statistics are more important than these mere numbers & Note 7 is a beast in all the smartphones right now.
Now for your "real question", Note 5 is also a great device, you may or may not upgrade to Note 7 immediately (just because it is costly right now, no other reason not to upgrade). Maybe you can decide after 6 months; by this time, the price would have also dropped down a bit
If investment of money is not an issue (and you are desperate to get a new phone), then definitely go for Note 7
