They make money off it because that's how they are marketed. That's all it is. Maybe you aren't brainwashed and genuinely need a larger screen. Fine. I'm glad the makers can accommodate you. But while they are at it, perhaps they can accommodate US - the people who do not need, want or appreciate a 5.5" or larger screen but would be perfectly happy to get the performance they are putting in those pocket hogs. But I guarantee you, the reason those big screens exist is because one day a makers marketing group decided they had to differentiate themselves and then everyone else piled on.
So what if they are brainwashed? If they are convinced that bigger phones are better, then what's the problem? I understand that you want smaller phones, but if the market keeps going like it is, then you're going to have to deal with a bigger phone, or get phones with worse specs
