Sam is mine just to jump in . It's almost an unfair question. One of my all time favorite shows ever next to Heroes s1&2. You should catch up on the the seasons as suggested. What better to be addicted to besides Android.

What makes the show so good? It seems like it has a pretty loyal following even after all these years. Does it maintain its quality throughout the entire run?

The characters really make the show. The story is pretty good too but you get sucked into the characters and their dynamics. The show is also constantly evolving, first its a couple of brother fighting ghosts and looking for their dad, overtime they are saving the world. They also rely heavily on totally sweet classic rock sound tracks.

My brother and I watched a season and a half until we became bored with the story line repeating itself episode after episode and dropped it.

There is a long story line that has a theme which unfolds gradually over seasons like the events that finally ends with Lucifer coming out of hell. And then there are the stories which just last an episode that focus on experiences with ghosts, vampires, etc.. How can you be bored with those? I personally love Supernatural, especially the early seasons. Dean is my favorite. He's charismatic yet a hard ***. And I can't get enough of his sarcastic humor. Sam just doesn't appreciate Dean enough.
