Who to go to for potential warranty issues?

So curious if I buy an att branded phone from say best buy or Samsung directly or even target and maybe have some potential issues with it would I have to bring it back to who I got it from? I had a few issues with my LG G6 screen tint that I got directly through att and I liked being able to just go in there and swap it out for a newer one usually without any issues...
 
Usually the direct vendor will specify a period of anywhere from a week to a month (depending in part on local laws) during which you can return your purchase for an exchange or refund if it came with a defect. After that, any exchange or repair has to be handled via the manufacturer's warranty, until that too expires, and then you're on your own (unless you've purchased insurance or an extended warranty).
