Who uses Textra??

I've been using the Textra for a few months now I like it better than any sms that I've used. Anyone else tried or likes it or don't like some stuff about it?

I use the first version of it (ChompSMS) and love it.

I simply can't have any messaging app without quick reply anymore.. I've become to reliant on it.

I use Textra and LOVE it. I always come back to it if I get an urge to try out another app.

It's so awesome because it's a simple, clean app that works great. It has the quick reply, even in lock screen if you want. It lets you customize the appearance - light or dark theme, then the color of chat bubbles, and also lets you customize individual contact settings. It's better (IMO) because it doesn't load the app down with a bunch of bloat ware. It's just a very streamlined app works amazingly well.

One quick example. For some reason I had trouble group messaging with my two best friends. One had an s3, the other had an iPhone. Funnily enough, it was the friend with the s3 whose messages would come back outside of the thread. People on here helpfully suggested a third party app that would force the conversation into the group thread that I wanted. So I tried chomp, hand cent, and go, and they all did force the group messaging. But it took the app forever to convert the incoming messages into the group thread, and in the popup windows, all I got were the "download" mms notification and had to go to the main app anyway, which,defeated the purpose. Found out about textra, tried it, and have never looked back. My group chats come in as smoothly as if I were still on my iPhone using iMessage - including the popups. This is out and away the best messaging app I've found. Oh! and it's free! At least it used to be. I'd pay for it in a heartbeat though. It's that good.

I downloaded textra and it drained my battery so far that it went down whilst on charge deleted app and problem solved shame v as it is a good app

I used GO SMS on my formers HTC phones. Bought the prime or paid version $19.99, you got all themes and others prime functions forever, for my last HTC ONE running stock on AT&T. On September 2013 I bought my LG G2, by far the best android device experience. I installed GO SMS PRIME version and CAOS descend. When I send a text message to Mary it goes to Paul phone. GO SMS mess up the addressee of my text messages, this is an unacceptable situation on a SMS app. I uninstalled GO SMS and try out Chomp SMS, Handcent SMS, Easy SMS, 8sms and Hangouts ? both from Google ?. Then I installed TEXTRA and this text message app is the most simple, secure and solid SMS app in Android word.

I was using EvolveSMS for a few days and it's was so buggy it was unusable. I stumbled upon Textra and haven't looked back. Love it and the Gifs are fun to use. Only probably I am having with it is sending group MMS. I am able to receive them but I get a failure when I go to send them. I am going to keep messing with the settings and see if I can get it to work though. Other than that's it's great. The quick compose works great and keeps me moving.

I have been using texts for a couple of weeks, it reminds me of the ios messaging app. The only thing I would like to see is a notification outside the app. Like 4 missed messages

I have used textra and love it. My only gripe is I can never send mms pictures as the files are to big (galaxy note 3). I am on att, does anyone know how to allow bigger pictures to be sent? I went into settings and upped the size allowable for mms but it still seems the pictures are too big...

I believe AT&T allows a max of 600KB.

I loved Textra, but since getting my Samsung Gear (Watch), it doesn't send texts to the watch, so I uninstalled.

I loved Textra as well but also just got a gear and it only works with stock apps (bummer cause Textra was on point).

Ok, so textra does work for group messaging iphones? I had my friend try to include me on a group message (I have an iPhone) and it came in as an individual text. I want to get a Note 3 but the lack of simple group messaging in one thread is a MAJOR deal breaker for me..

It SHOULD work with group texting. Group texting should work on your note 3 as part of the stock app, but as with anything, weird glitches pop up. But it should work, Even if an iPhone is part oft he group. If you do switch, you need to make sure to take several steps to separate your phone number for iMessage. Removing it on the phone, turning it off on your phone, and deregistering your iPhone through Apple's website are all things you should do. This still sometimes takes a day or so.

Having said that - I did all that, and still had issues group texting with one specific group. (On the stock app). One reply would always come in individually. It drove me crazy, and my friend and I tried tweaking every setting we could think of on our respective phones to get it to work, and it just wouldn't. Downloaded textra, and it worked like a charm. Group texting AND popups. Also - this was happening on my s4. Got my galaxy note 3, and group texting on stock has worked just fine. However, I still use textra - it's that awesome!
