Who's done a factory reset for 4.2 from old Ice cream sandwich?

After reading the Android Central article about doing a factory reset I just wondered who has actually done this and if they seen any major speed improvements? My phone seems to lag quite a bit for the keyboard to pop up it seems like vs when I first got it. I am thinking of doing this if it really shows major speed improvements. I got the phone on launch day and have went through each new update since 4.2 .1 and hope for 4.2.2 also to come out soon.

I'm getting the same issues and thinking of doing a scary reset. I know it's always recommended when doing a system update but still. Never done that before so not sure if it's as bad as it seems.

A factory reset really isn't bad, as long as you have your important stuff backed up, either to a computer or in the cloud. Use the backup and restore options in your settings menu. Use Titanium Backup if you'd rather. Me, personally, I tend to go "all in" when I decide to do a factory reset and simply start from scratch with apps/settings. I keep my contacts, calendar, music, photos, etc. backed up automatically to Google's servers and simply sign back in to my phone after the reset. Many times, a factory reset will get rid of whatever glitchy-ness your phone may be experiencing and will run a lot smoother. My $.02

I've only had the phone since december, but I was having weird battery issues on both stock and random roms, so I reloaded the latest factory image, relocked the bootloader, and basically put it to 100% bnib stock. No issues yet, but I just did this last night and have yet to use my cellular connection, as I have been on wifi since. So far, cleaning the gunk out has seemed to help a bit, as since December I have loaded half a million roms, and returned to a stock nandroid a lot...

I wonder if we will get 4.2.2 or if they're happy with 4.2.1 on sprint. Lately i've noticed when I leave an app and hit the home button my launchers blank and takes time to regenerate. Defiantly something buggy lately. I plan to restore the device to factory soon and start fresh after I backup my files/apps list. If I get time to get around to it, I'll post my results.

I'm going to guess we will eventually see 4.2.2 officially from Sprint. Its only a minor bump in update but does address much of the complaints found with 4.2.1

I've been running custom ROM's built on 4.2.2 and my phone runs very smooth with very little maintenance outside the normal.

I'm hoping it's just a few weeks away. However, in the meanwhile, I just downloaded Carbon Backup to get ready for the factory reset, and a possible root if the factory reset doesn't work so I can just upgrade myself to 4.2.2 and update the radio. The system itself is now using way too much RAM. The other night the System UI, Google Backup Transport, and Settings were each using 121 MB. EACH! My signal is horrible also. I am so glad that I only just did the update a few weeks ago. I'd 've pulled my hair out if I had installed this "update" sooner before I was comfortable enough with my phone/android to consider rooting.

i always do a factory erase reset when i update the OS. i then do a MANUAL restore of everything piece by piece.

IMO it's a PIA but starting fresh helps keep everything running correctly.
